Amazing as always, bitterly cold day, -42' and beautifully sunny. Definitely confusing to some new comers, a young girl from the southern hemisphere visiting, figured it must be warm enough for shorts, and went for a walk...Why? She asked were her legs so red?

It's wonderful to see Portage la Prairie, attracting people from all over the world. I believe we are suppose to be the sunniest or one of the sunniest cities in Canada!!! And no one can predict the weather swings here. I remember on April we went from +32' to -5' in 24 hours. Helps to keep us on our toes, and we are never to quick to move a variety of coats out of our closets. Be Prepared! The Girl Guide motto, I recall from years ago, still a good motto.
